Poetry Assignment #1

1. They took the poem "The Laughing Heart" from Charles Bukowski.
2. The fact that they use this poem is ironic because it is depicting all of these young people having the time of their lives. They don't have a care in the world and that isn't what this poems about. It's about getting through all of those problems and coming out okay in the end.
3. The poem itself without the commercial does reflect Bukowski. The poem reflects his life and his struggles with money and alcohol but how he overcame these struggles and turned out better in the end.

A. We can't just sit in this class and expect to learn anything. We must take initiative and step up and ask questions and be involved otherwise we gain nothing from the course.
